Albirex Niigata Singapore

We stay in Singapore, but this club is completely different from Young Lions. In fact, this club is different from any other in the world.

The club was founded in 2004. At that time, the Singapore Football Association invited foreign teams to join the league due to problems with low attendance at matches. So, the Japanese club Albirex Niigata decided to establish a satellite club in Singapore.

The specificity of this club is that almost exclusively Japanese players play in it. Of course, there are some Singaporeans to satisfy the rules of the league, but the rest are all Japanese.

Over time, this club has become a dominant force in Singaporean football. This can be viewed positively, saying that foreign investment has brought quality to domestic football. However, the parent club Albirex Niigata is a Japanese second league club and they send players to Singapore who cannot impose themselves in the main club. This speaks volumes about the difference in quality between the national championships of these two countries. This is not something that Singaporeans can boast about.
