FC Chertanovo Moscow

What Altinordu is for Turkey, Chertanovo is for Russia.

This is a club that was initially conceived as an academy. They were founded in this form in 1976 and managed to produce several future members of the USSR and Russia National Teams.

They decided to transform into a real football club in 1993, but they did not give up on their roots. Since their establishment, they have been a lower league club without significant results, and this has started to change in recent years.

In the 2018/19 season, they competed in the FNL (Russian second league) for the first time and immediately achieved a sensational success by winning fifth place. They finished just one point behind Nizhny Novgorod, who qualified for the playoffs. The following season they were even better, they were in third place when the league was interrupted after 27 rounds due to the coronavirus. Promotion was achieved by Khimki, despite the same number of points, due to goal difference. It was decided that there would be no playoffs for entry into the higher rank, so Chertanovo once again drew the short straw.

At the end of that unfortunate season, coach Igor Osinkin and several key players left for Krylia Sovetov, and a severely weakened Chertanovo finished the 2020/21 season in 21st place in the table and was relegated to the third league.

However, this Moscow club does not give up on its idea. Only players who have come out of their academy can play for the club, without the possibility of buying players from the side.
