When we talk about add-ons that you need before starting your first Football Manager save, FM 24 Real Name Fix finds a place at the top of that list. For years now, all sports games (ok, maybe not FIFA/FC) have struggled with licensing. Football Manager 2024 is not exempt from this problem.
We are lucky because in Football Manager the names of the clubs can be corrected much more easily than in other games (the late PES, for example). In just a few steps (we’ll explain them below) you can have the correct names of clubs and competitions in the game.
This add-on is created by the FMScout.com community. You can find more information about the add-on as well as future updates to it on their website. Also, you can suggest new changes in the comments of this post.
List of changes
- Names of all playable clubs from all continents
- All major league names
- Names of all first leagues from European countries that are not playable
- Names of international, continental and national cups
- Award names
- Names of some stadiums

\Program Files\Epic Games\FootballManager2024\data\database\db\2430\ - Open the lnc folder and then enter the all sub-folder.
- Delete all files you can find in there, particularly the following 4 files:
- fake.lnc
- lic_dan_swe_fra.lnc
- japanese names.lnc
- licensing club name_fm24.lnc
- Move FM24 Fix by FMScout.lnc and FM24 Club Names by FMScout.lnc inside this all folder.
- Go 2 folders back to find the edt folder.
Open it and then enter the permanent sub-folder. - Delete the file “fake.edt”.
This will fix Niko Kovač from getting renamed to Max Freund, Oliver Kahn from getting renamed to Jens Freund, and a couple of more people. - Again go 2 folders back, this time to find the dbc folder.
Then enter the permanent sub-folder.
Delete the following 5 files:- 1_japan_removed_clubs.dbc
- brazil_kits.dbc
- forbidden names.dbc
- japan_fake.dbc
- j league non player.dbc
This will prevent Japanese clubs from getting removed and Brazilian clubs from reverting to 3-letter names. It will allow certain kits to be visible again.
- Now enter the language sub-folder.
Delete the following 2 files:- Licensing2.dbc
- Licensing2_chn.dbc
- Open the game and enjoy Football Manager 2024 with real names.
NAPOMENA: The fix for Brazilian and Japanese clubs can only take effect with a new save because dbc files affect the saved game when it’s first created.
